All Nations International held a memorial service for its founder Floyd McClung on Saturday 24th July 2021, led by his wife Sally. During the ‘Celebration of Life’ gathering in person and online, Floyd was described as “a world changer of the highest order”. I watched the LIVE stream from Kansas City and was truly inspired. You will be too as you read / watch.
You may not know Floyd McClung or the ministry of All Nations International but you have probably heard of the book, The Father Heart of God. It’s essential reading for every believer! Sadly I never met Floyd, but I loved this message of God’s faithfulness and was blessed to write this post following Floyd’s passing in May. Floyd McClung (1945 -2021) – He knew the Father Heart of God and shared the love of Jesus worldwide
Now after watching his ‘Celebration of Life Service’ today I feel led to share a few thoughts. It was such an inspirational service, nothing like a funeral, or a journey into the past, although it was both those things. It pointed to the future and continuing to reach new generations for Jesus. After hearing the many accolades and personal stories I saw how much Floyd and Sally have poured out their lives in 50 years of ministry and what a great legacy he leaves behind. Imagine if we were inspired to be world changers like Floyd McClung… the Great Commission would soon be complete!
It was so touching to hear from Sally McClung and their beautiful daughter Misha who both radiate Jesus. Also from Dr Mary Ho who has led All Nations International for several years. She spoke of Floyd’s passion for Jesus and his hopes that we will finish the race. “What does it take to finish the race?” she asked. “It takes everything!” Floyd McClung exemplified a passion for mission and you can read more about this in his article Apostolic Passion. Quoting Floyd McClung, Dr Ho said “Passion is whatever a person is willing to suffer for.”
In addition to the All Nations International speakers there were several international tributes including one from the UK’s Pete Grieg of the 24-7 movement. Pete spoke of Floyd’s integrity in a world where so many leaders have messed up. “Floyd knew how to be a father, mentor and disciple and he showed us how to follow Jesus right to the end. To fix our eyes on Him. He then quoted Hebrews 12:1 which remains the challenge of all believers. “Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders…. and run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
You will be so inspired as you watch the service and empowered to finish the race. Here are just a few comments from some of the Christian leaders Floyd McClung touched as an apostolic ministry figure / mentor.
- “God used Floyd’s voice to trumpet the message of the Father’s heart across the earth.” – Mike Bickle;
- “Floyd made ministry such fun!” – Juergen Kramer, Germany;
- “Floyd, gave us a place to belong and to be on mission for Jesus.” – Dr Pam Arlund;
- “Floyd could pull out the deepest potential in you.” – Matt Chen, Taiwan;
- “Floyd gave us over-the-top encouragement.” Gerhard Barnard, South Africa; and
- “Floyd was a pilgrim, a stranger and an alien on this earth. We will continue his dream and legacy to the nations.” -Jon Peterson.
What are we prepared to suffer for in order to leave such a lasting legacy? How do we want to be remembered? It would be so wonderful if similar comments could be said about us one day…
